In December, 2018, as part of a excursion to Ellicotville, NY, we visited Lana’s The Little House in Forestville. This was a “surprise destination” for a birthday present, and a well kept surprise it was.

Lana has a lovely crafted “English cottage” full of stories and delights. We heard about the history of the place and how Lana came to live there, and how it came to be that she gives tours and serves wonderful teas by appointment.

It turned out that we had a lot in common, as I also came originally from Western New York, and we had visited many of the same places on trips around the country, such as (unexpectedly) the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD (pictured). This made for wonderful conversation and the time flew by. Here is a picture of us in Lana’s living room next to the Christmas tree (can you spot the trompe l’oeil decorations?).
