Two major editor updates were released yesterday and today in a great wave of coding goodness.
First, the official release 3.0 version of Sublime Text is finally out. I’ve been using the beta version of 3.0 for a long time, but there are a lot of improvements in the release.
From the announcement:
Compared to the last beta, 3.0 brings a refreshed UI theme, new color schemes, and a new icon. Some of the other highlights are big syntax highlighting improvements, touch input support on Windows, Touch Bar support on macOS, and apt/yum/pacman repositories for Linux.
Out of the box, 3.0 does look better. Read the whole thing here: https://www.sublimetext.com/blog/articles/sublime-text-3-point-0
Second, Atom-IDE was released. From the Atom announcement:
GitHub, in collaboration with Facebook, are pleased to announce the launch of Atom-IDE – a set of optional packages to bring IDE-like functionality to Atom.
You can read the whole announcement here: http://blog.atom.io/2017/09/12/announcing-atom-ide.html
I’ve downloaded both, and I’m looking at Atom like I’m in the Disloyal Man Walking With His Girlfriend meme. I hadn’t used Atom before – the git and github integration, even out of the box, is sweet, and I haven’t even gotten to the PHP IDE features.
